If you have had even the slightest doubt about whether you’d stick to your workout routine or how really to set these easily achievable goals, then welcome. Get your favorite cozy drink and let’s talk about how to rekindle that fire in you and bring out your inner champion!
The Motivation Mindset: What Drives Us?
So there have been days when you leap out of bed raring to go for a particular workout. But let’s face it, some days seem like trudging through mud in a pair of heavy boots. The real magic in taking those drab days and turning them into fire-breathing workouts is motivation.
Motivation has its sources. For me, it is an eraser when I slip from a healthy eating plan or a tap on my back before entering the gym. Sometimes it is joyfully lifting weights that drives me, but often it is the endorphins kicking after some cardio that keep me coming back for more.
Ask yourself: What motivates you, really? Is it the feeling of confidence producing from lifting heavier weights, pure joy after feeling fit, or a enjoy conquering new challenges? Find that personal spark, and your engine to keep you going runs!
Setting goals like a Boss
Now that we have touched on the discussion of motivation, it’s time to talk about those big dreams and goals. Think of goal setting like a roadmap for a journey-the fitness without the destination; motivating yourself to exercise and setting goals you are just likely to wander around and end up nowhere. Here is a simple one I like to call the SMART approach-Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound!
1.Specific: Instead of “I want to get fit,” it could be something like “I want to run a 5K in two months.” It’s something specific, and you’ll have an actual target to shoot for!
2.Measured: You must always use numbers in your goals. “I will go to the gym four times a week” is much easier to track than just simply stating, “I will work out.”
3.Achievable: No kidding, trying to run a marathon next month when you’ve never done even a mile before is not something totally realistic. Gradually introduce smaller, cumulative goals that will step you closer and closer to your big tracks!
4.Relevant: Ensure your goals relate well enough to your lifestyle and personal other inclinations. Weightlifting just surely wouldn’t come into play if yoga is actually your love.
5.Time-bound: This gives you an edge, some accountability; don’t say, “I’m going to lose weight,” but rather say, “Within a month I am going to lose 5 pounds!”
Finding your Rhythm
Monitoring developments and celebrating achievements. Having set the targets and being enthusiastic about them: how does one maintain that momentum? This all may be done with the help of tracking: applications (MyFitnessPal is my favorite) or, otherwise, a simple diary where you will write the description of each workout, what you ate, and how you felt after each of them. And do not forget that you need to celebrate victories, small or big! You have run your first mile? New workout shoes! You lifted more than last week? Smoothies at your favorite place! Celebrating the little steps reinforces their positive feedback loops and increases your motivation to work harder.
Your journey is uniquely yours: accept it like a rollercoaster
Your journey is uniquely yours; accept it like a rollercoaster. It will take a projection journey into peak and lows ”believe me; you cannot miss the sight of such aspects. You may be floating on clouds one day, and the next day, you may feel completely surrounded by challenges.
But the best part in it: That’s the journey! Each step, every stumble, and the victory is a really important growth to you, so take care of yourself, and please pat yourself on the back for your determination and acknowledge that asking for help or advice is absolutely alright. We are all in this together!
