Why Use Heart-Healthy Ingredients?

Before looking at the recipes, let’s have a quick conversation about why certain foods are heart-healthy. Foods like avocados, nuts, fatty fish, as well as many colorful fruits and vegetables, can all be considered friends of the heart! Now, let’s throw in some tips to make food choices a little more fun:

  • A Splash of Color: A variety of colorful fruits and vegetables on your plate is not only pleasing to the eye, it is also an excellent way to make sure you are getting several nutrients in your diet.
  • Try Some Spices: Spice and herbs can flavor your food and are also a great way to reduce sodium intake.
  • Choose Whole Grains: Substitute white bread and pasta with a whole grain option. This way you will benefit from additional fiber, which is great for heart health.
