First things first, what does detox even mean? It’s not about a juice cleanse for days at a time, or just eating kale. It’s about giving your body a chance to reset. it’s about detoxing harmful things from your system, creating more energy and promoting wellness. Think of it as a health reset.

We tend to slide into unhealthy habits in today’s world – junk food, caffeine overload and late night snacks can take a toll on the body over time. A quick detox can help flush the junk and leave you feeling lighter, and less bogged down, mentally and physically.

Simple and nourishing, this detox & cleansing blog with 5-day detox plan is something everyone can do using food, drinks, and practices to keep you feeling great. It’s all about simple, wholesome foods, hydrating beverages, and mindful practices. I promise there are no complicated recipes here!

A 5-Day Natural Detox plan

Day 1: Hydrate & Nourish

  • Morning: Begin your day by drinking a glass of warm water with lemon juice. It’s like a friendly hug for your liver!
  • Breakfast: A delicious smoothie bursting with spinach, banana, and a scoop of your favourite protein powder. Bonus points if you add a sprinkle of chia seeds for extra fiber!
  • Lunch: A large salad of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and a light vinaigrette.
  • Dinner: Grilled vegetables and quinoa with tasty herbs or spices to keep things interesting!

 

Make sure to drink lots of water during the day – aim for at least 8 glasses of water, which will help flush the toxins out of you!

Day 2: Whole Foods Focus

On Day 2, we will have an emphasis on whole foods.

  • Breakfast: Overnight oats made with almond milk, topped with berries, and honey drizzled overtop.

  • Breakfast: Smoothie bowl topped with cinnamon and ginger for flavor (and benefits)!
  • Lunch: Quinoa salad topped with black beans, corn, and bell peppers, and dressed with lime juice.
  • Dinner: Baked salmon with herbs and asparagus. If you are vegetarian, you could have crispy chickpeas instead!

 

In addition, try drinking ginger tea or turmeric lattes throughout the day—they’re warming and detoxifying.

Day 4: Light and Bright

Make it light today. Your body and health will appreciate you for it!

  • Breakfast: Double fruit salad with lime. So refreshing!
  • Lunch: Zucchini noodles with home made tomato sauce and fresh basil. So good!
  • Dinner: Stir-fry with any variety of your favorite veggies and tofu.

 

For crunch, carrots and cucumber sticks with hummus are a great option!

  • Dinner: Cauliflower rice stir-fried with an assortment of vegetables.

 

Don’t forget to pamper yourself! End your day with a warm bath, curling up with a great book or even a short yoga practice to reflect on your week. All the while, you’re working on that important mind-body connection!
